PimpStreamer DLNA 1.2

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Dudes..

Got myself a nice cheapo NAS box, (Synology ds106j, 500 gb) with so-called “mediaserver” features, all nice and so but it did not work on my trusty PS3.. :-(

.. So I had to do it by myself, working towards a new version of PimpStreamer DLNA :-D at the same time..

Anyway download and enjoy the 1.2 release with

- VOB support and other files (you need a FAST lan)

- Now you can run multiple instances on 1 network.

- cleaned up dir listing (no more double entries)

- cleaned other misc stuff

Download PimpStreamerDLNA12.zip

BTW… For the blogmasters:

It is called PimpStreamer DLNA and not PiMPStreamer DLNA, becoz it has nothing to do with PMP anymore ;-)

Getting bored searching for an easy one-step-run DLNA media server? A server with no endless “library building” or directory scans, just share what you have on the filesystem…

Download PimpStreamerDLNA.zip.

UPDATE: Got a lot of feedback which will trigger a new update soon…

Pimpstreamer 1.0, a new release!

update: To fix the “buffer overrun detected”, first uninstall the old version, then install the new one. (see comments)

compatibility matrix

* support for the new slim psp /3.xx firmwares/WPA
* better streaming (so is reported)
* fully graphical, fast scrolling, proportional fonts
* not based on pmp_mod anymore
* DNS lookups
* started from scratch
* better energy consumption (playing MP3)

Download PiMPStreamerSetup-1.0.msi

Remember this package installs also the old PMP_MOD based version, use that if you want to run on 1.50.

still a beta.. had some troubles with the syncing of audio and video (remember this new version everything is from scratch)

Updates.. soon

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

After I gathered most of the requests from the forum, I began working on a 3.xx only full graphical version of PiMPStreamer.

This time from the ground up, without any heavy ffmpeg libs to carry with.

Hope to get something to you soon.. Keep posted!

Download the pimpstreamer-beta-1.0. Tested on 3.52 M33-4.
-not based on pmp_mod, uses mp3 hardware decoding and plain software decoding (no me.prx needed)
-completely from ground up
-color info not right yet, need to implement yuv->rgb
-fully graphical
-a beta, not all functions yet ported
-when in movie no stopping yet (test with small movies)
-sound still skippy

put in PSP/GAME folder (not GAME150)

Flv streamer update, full Wii playback

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Now that WPA was tackled (if you downgrade to 3.10 ;-) )

The FLV streamer side needed an update. No changes in the PSP binaries

1. No more pimpy color borders. Movie will always try to go full screen.

2. Full length flv playback on Wii. Tested with some long movies :-D

3. Better UI while playing (click on movie). Adjust volume and play/pause. Tested on Wii.

To start a new movie, refresh the page.

Remember to use it on the Wii or PS3, you enter your PC address with port 3333 in the internel web browser

Download PiMPStreamerSetup-0.91.msi

3.40 and WPA status..

Monday, May 7th, 2007

For the moment still trying to get something to work (see pspdev thread) … so if you want WPA desperately the easy way you could always downgrade to 3.10 oe and work with that for the moment. See the forum for tips or other solutions like creating GAME340 folder and setting kernel options.

Test eboot to print the error code

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Seems to be firmware related problem, so I crafted a special eboot to see what the mystical error code is you non 3.10 OE A’ users get ;-)

Put the eboot.pbp in the PIMPSTREAMER090 dir on your PSP

Update: 8002013A is the code everyone gets..

Update 2: I updated my firmware to 3.40 OE and I investiged further and it looks like the memodule.prx fails to load, it misses a (kernel) library which was not missing on my old firmware (3.10 OE A’) ..  :-(

Update 3: this thread in the forum looks interesting… Must try this when i’m home ;-)

PiMPStreamer WPA..

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Finally a WPA version…

Argh after senseless debugging, I discovered that I forgot to initialize the crop tables in the memodule.prx . Anyway a good debugging experience is always a lesson well learned!

To make the WPA version I took the memodule from the libmemodule implementation of PMPMOD VLC, coming from the briljant coders jockyW and jonny.. Also I had to rewrite a part of the whole app for user mode.. Anyway it works now.. PiMPStreamer WPA..

The setup wiil install both versions of the software for 1.5 and 3.X. On vista don’t select the checkbox in the installer, but install the psp software after installing.

added bonusses of the WPA version: the psp 0.90 app will quit when pressing HOME :-)

Also if you install manually, just place the PIMPSTREAMER090 dir in /PSP/GAME (not in /PSP/GAME150 anymore. )

Donwload PiMPStreamerSetup-0.90.msi or PiMPStreamer-0.90.zip

Update: Appearantly there is an error with the new streamer.. As I have no trouble streaming all kinds of content with my  3.10 oe-A PSP with a WPA (PSK-TKIP) static IP connection, so I’m looking for situations to reproduce the problem.

Please anyone who can send me feedback, comment here or post in the forum, and give as much info as possible. ;-) thanx!

Someone pointed to me that the server version was 0.83.. I think the msi creation went wrong. I rebuilded the MSI.
