PimpStreamer 0.77 small update

After a period of lazy nothingness and holidays, I began coding again ;-)

 - updates windoze dll’s, latest ffmpeg svn build..

- you dont have to copy the SUB file any more. PS will detect the SUB file on the PC and copy it to your mem stick. (Note: only SUB not SRT, just convert these with various tools)

- image pause, press square to (un)pause

- For 3.03 just copy the psp files to the GAME150 folder. (according some 3.03 users out there)

- UPDATE: for subs to work, you will need a directory PSP/MOVIES on your PSP..

BTW… I will buy a new psp for making a WPA 3.03 version as I keep my old PSP on 1.5. Still getting donations from you guys is great. Even after a year of donations the total is about 400/500 euro’s.

PS .. while coding the latest version I streamed a whole concert on the background without stutter….. (video that is)

PS2 .. I also noticed better performance when I minimize the server ..

Super stable on my 3.03 oe…great work…..looking forward to the wpa version.

Best homebrew app for the psp!

  3. george Says:

    Hi dicky,

Could you post a zip version plse ? (one without the installer)

    Thanks

    ps : great app.

  4. sashimi Says:

Very nice work, but unfortunately it is windows only, and I use linux :( . Could you try working on a linux port please ? (perhapse ffmpeg can be useful….)
    Thx in advance.
Keep up the good work ^^

  5. MaxDemian Says:

Hey dude, just wanted to say cheers big time for the app. Agreed that is in the essential brew list :)

  6. Hooray for the King! Says:

Glad you are back. You could upgrade to 3.03 OE-C you know, a downdate to 1.5 only takes about 5 minutes again.

Are you taking suggestions for improvements yet?

    1) Make Bitrates display in the same format on PSP and PC (K? or bytes? You decide.)
    2) Auto select the max speed the PC can send after doing a connection test, so no more test -restart - test cycles before I can watch a movie.
    3) Slide up the video quality, the sound quality goes down (to fit the max selected) and vice-versa.
    4) Work out why the fastest speed available is only 500k and go faster?
    5) Buffer the movie slightly, keep track of the speed of the connection and downgrade the quality when connection is poor, then automagically back up when it is good. Occasional blockiness is preferable to stuttering.
    6) Put some help text in the PSP, I don’t always have a PC to refer to the help file.
    7) Allow different audio streams to be played, such as Directors commentary.
    8) Allow different subtitles to be played, such as Directors commentary.

no *.bat file execution? i hope for the next version ;-)

  8. Ody nOOb Says:

Nice to see you back and tx for the update :)

PS: PSP still hangs if pimpstreamer client is left unatended for a while.

    The screen then shows:

    Current stream directory: “”

and I have to reset the PSP and pimpstreamer server application.

Keep up the good work :)

  9. andy Says:

    hope it can support rm/rmvbs

  10. ybakker Says:

How would you use this app via the internet? Would you just have to insert the external IP address instead of the default 192.168.1.* internal IP in the .ini file on the PSP?

  11. avid pimpstreamer user Says:

I hope there will be a zip version of this wonderful app, i’m having difficulties installing in my system, i’m using windows vista and when i’m installing there’s an error “Error writing to file: msxml4.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory”.

thank you! i missed using this app already!

You are great! Thank you very very very much for auto subtitle downloading. There is only one little feature, very important for user of subtitles in other formats burned into cds/dvds: please add to pimpstream auto-subtitle-format-converter.

    Thanks in advance!

    :) :) :)

  16. zdziisek Says:

…and one other thing - often sub files are named *.txt

  17. zdziisek Says:

The second one (*.txt naming) is even more important :)

  18. zdziisek Says:

    I found solution -> I hacked pimpstreamer.exe (replaced .sub .txt string) :D

is there a tutor how to set up all this ?

  20. psycon Says:

could you add support for DVR-MS from windows media center, doing so could allow streaming live TV (if you were to share the temporary timeshift file…) dunno if it would be easy to stream a file that is still being written.. even if that dont work, could still access all your recorded tv…

  21. ALoGeNo Says:

Nice job!!, hehe.. for when, the pimpserver app for linux ah?..

  24. seargent007 Says:

  26. John Says:

does this really work with 3.03? i have 3.03 OE-C and it says this game cannot be loaded.. it does that for everything else in my game folder.

  27. Tim Says:

@John: Yes, it works fine. Create a GAME150 folder in the same folder (PSP) as your current GAME folder. Move the two PS folders in there.

Or boot into recovery mode and set homebrew kernel to 1.50

Either of these will make it work for you.

  28. Tom Says:

  32. FLX Says:

    IAS, the last one

Anyway, i cant get it to work. my wireless settings are correct. my client info is correct, and the server is running.

when i start pimpstreamer it asks for which wireless connection to choose and which host.
Then it asks me if i want to test the connection, and whether i choose yes or no, it give me this:

Connection to Access Point using configuration 2…
    connection state 0 of 4
    connection state 2 of 4

And thats it. It doesnt completely lockup, but i cant use the home key.
    I’m using 3.03-B

    Can anybody help me?

    Thanks in advance,

    FLX

  33. FLX Says:

Never mind just found the fix. Pimpstreamer doesnt support WPA, remember that :)

  34. AJ Says:

What do you guys do to get this on your psp?(sorry ive never done this before)

  35. Ray Says:

    Thank you Oh Big PimpMaster!

BTW… I’ve been using v.76 for a while and my stream ALMOST never stuttered before!!!!

what I did was to create a shortcut for pimpstreamer and setting the thread priority to “highest”. Then this shortcut was sent to my “Startup” folder.. so all the love.. none of the hasle.

It doesn’t take anything from windows (at least not that I’ve noticed) but since I did this all my skips/stutter problems went away.

  36. Kastef Says:

I’m trying to get this to work and I think I have it set up correctly but when it tests the connection it just crashes my psp. What could I be doing wrong?

    This is the error:

Connection to access point using configuration 3
    Connection state 0 of 4
    Connection state 2 of 4

    and then it crashes.

    Firmware 3.03 OE-C

    Any help would be great!

  37. FLX Says:

I just explained why, Kastef. learn to read.

  38. Loller Says:

I’m getting the same error as FLX and Kastef, except I’m using WEP. Halp?

  39. Loller Says:

    Oh, btw, I’m using 3.03 OE-C.

  40. Trubacca Says:

Super impressed in concept.. I still need to track down the source of my stuttering problem. I imagine it has something to do with my ancient computer hardware. Stutters way to much for even music right now, gonna have to stick with IrShell and nethost for now. Which makes me sad by the way. Pausing allows the tiny cache to catch up for perhaps five seconds, but I refuse to pause every five seconds. Are there any useful suggestions for reducing the stuttering dilemma?

  41. Kastef Says:

FLX thanks for the patience!!! Your AWSOME

see I read before even coming to a forum. And I already knew to use WEP.

  43. FULIO Says:

How can i be able to watch Tv on my psp ?? with the pmp streamer? can someone help please. Ty

  44. ZEi Says:

Nice work, i have it working on Vista RTM build 6000!! I had to open the server port in windows firewall manually, even though it popped up asking for the program to be opened. and i also had to change the server port in the streamer INI file. no big deal though, im 100% happy!

the exe loads straight away, but the GUI takes probably 5 mins to appear. cant wait for a WPA version.

  45. Minotaur Says:

I’ve installed the app pn PC and PSP but when I run the PSP side it just hangs at a purple screen… no file lists come up and no keys work. The server is running on the PC end.

  46. Minotaur Says:

My bad… got it working - silly me hadn’t re-setup my wifi after doing a firmware down/upgrade :)

  47. amaru007 Says:

wow finally got it to work >_, it just goes back into the main screen again. left

  48. Sicks Pack Says:

I really like this program, everything works flawlessly, except when I fast forward any video stream to any point forward it stops exactly 15 seconds into it. The stream runs fine all the way through if it starts at the beginning. The problem I’m having, if I watch a movie half way through, then break for a minute, I have to start the movie from the beginning again. This kinda sucks. Other than that, Pimpstreamer is awesome. Any suggestions to solve this problem, would be much appreciated. Thanks

  49. amaru007 Says:

hmm seems my last post didnt display. problem i’m having is i cant add time with the right >. it goes back to the main screen. any ideas? the left

  50. Sicks Pack Says:

    amaru007

You need to add the time prior to starting your stream.

  51. Namiky Says:

  52. Sir.Rah Says:

    Hey Dicky,
This work great with my 3.03 OE-C, keep up the great work. And THANKS alot.

  53. George Says:

Im always getting this ” This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted” Im currently using PSP ver 3.10

  54. Sicks Pack Says:

    George

I think you have the newest FW version for the PSP, I don’t think you can run PimpStreamer on it. It may be awhile before you can too.

  55. Kastef Says:

So I’m guessing something with my router is crashing this on my psp. Is there other settings to look for other than WEP that could cause the connection test crash?

I’d love to get this working.

    Thanks

  56. Famous Mist Says:

I have a psp with 3.03OE and works great i just cant see the subtitles (SUB) . help please

  57. Ikari7789 Says:

Hey DickyDick I love PimpStreamer, but sometimes I just can’t stand the background color. I know that this doesn’t add any extra functionality, but I’m guessing, from previous programming experience, that it wouldn’t be all that hard to add color options in the PMP.ini file. I would greatly appreciate this and would love that as an option.

  58. Molecool Says:

Hey Dicky - this is the coolest app for the PSP, no question about it. What I mostly loved about it was the simplicity of the setup. You’re really on to something here and it ‘just works’ - lovin’ it :-)

BTW, here’s a tip: I had to copy the app from GAMES/ to GAMES150/ because I’m running 3.03 (hacked of course) - you might be able to detect the version number ’somehow’ and copy the app in the right directory.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

  59. Setsu Says:

    Good job dude.
It would be nice if you could allow selection between multiple audio streams…you know some files like avi support multiple languages

  60. uneasy Says:

Nice to see you back, Dicky! :)
A small suggestion (not urgent by any means) - could you add the ability to display ID3 tags instead of the current “playing audio” text (with ability to change its size/solor/speed etc)? That’d be great!

And a request for all professional pimp streamers :)

Could somebody do a help file on all ps features to add to the installer? I have a feeling some useful PS options are hidden from the public view :)

  61. amaru007 Says:

thanks sick pack, figured it out ^_^. only problem i kept having was the port settings. i found teh easiest solution was to set it at port 80. works fine

  62. 6riku6 Says:

nice work dicky, gt it workin fine and is the coolest software for psp! i was just thinking tho there a really cool site called peekvid.com were you can watch anything for free including new films if you couls stream from there it would be reli kwl jus a suggestion tho anyway cool software tnks!

  63. stan Says:

i am having problems playing my videos. everything works fine, but it pauses for long time and its always stuttering. is there any way that i can fix this problem?

  64. ScoopNewsworthy Says:

Thanks Dicky. My psp wouldn’t be as fun to use as it is without your great pimplicious app.

  65. Kastef Says:

I’ve become insane trying to get this to work.

    I’m running 3.03 OE-C

I have tried EVERYTHING but pimpstreamer is still crashing my psp. It hangs after it states: “connection state 2 of 4″

everything PC side is setup properly, everything router side is setup properly. (yes WEP) I’m beginning to think it’s my firmware flash that is bad. Is this even possible?

I’m dying here can someone help out?

  66. RuDe DuDe Says:

    Kastef
My pimpstreamer used to crash if i didnot have the directory “VIDEO” on my PSP.
So make a directory if you dont have it in the top directory

    ?:/VIDEO

  67. Kastef Says:

    Thanks for the quick response

I have the “VIDEO” folder under psp where it should be right? I tried putting one at the root and it still crashes.

I just tried reflashing 3.03OE-C and the issue persists.

  68. Famous Mist Says:

  69. Aeon Says:

I have a problem, it says that the data is corrupted and does not start. i currently have 3.10 for my psp. what cab i do to make this work? plz help…

  70. Ant Says:

@ Aeon - m8 if upgraded to 3.10 then you ain’t gonna be running any homebrew for a while :) you need 1.50 or the custom 3.03 firmware and sadly now you can’t downgrade for the time being.

    Hi Peolple,

Great work DickDick. But I can´t get the subs working. Tried .sub, converted srt to sub, but it just simple won´t show. What am I missing?

    Thanks.

  74. warpdeagle Says:

to connect over the internet you need to add a connection in your pmp.ini on your psp. add the line pimpserver_2 = xx.xx.xxx.xxx:3333; entering your ips’s ip address. you can find out what that is by going to www.showmyip.com you my have to open the port # on your router. it does work but the video was to slow and choppy. i would like to see a buffer incorperated in the server. love it at home tho.

  75. William Says:

Yeah, it is choppy all the time. :(

  76. DickyDick1969 Says:

BTW…what was your connection test saying?

    connection state 3 of 4

  78. Ismael Says:

Hi, I’m trying to install pimpstreamer on my 1.5 psp and when i have the installer try to install the software via usb it keeps saying that it can’t find the psp. the pc recognizes it because when i go to my computer its there. is there something special i have to do?

  79. Ming the Merciless Says:

I have the same fast-forwarding issue that Sicks Pack wrote about above (http://www.pimpware.org/?p=65#comment-4933).

Does this feature work for anyone?

This bug limits the useability for me. If it could be fixed then I would use PimpStreamer much more. The ability to remember the latest playback position in each file and to resume playback from that point would be good to have as well!

    Still a great program though!

  80. warpdeagle Says:

DD, i did not check the test connection at the time i tried it. i will the next time i’m there. it may not be before tuesday. will check it and let you know.

  81. Jack D Says:

Hi , first , Thank you for giving us such a great software. I like it very much.
But also I have some problem with it , when I use my “.wmv” file, it seens like not very good , always error after play a few seconds , or sounds and pictures are not shown at the same time . But other kind of media files are all right .
    So I have 2 requests:
    1. The wmv file problem : not very good.
    2.Could you offer me a TA082 (2.71) version?

And thanks again for your great work. I am the one of your lots of fans in China , waiting for your next great version.

  82. Dieselboy Says:

Is there a fast forward feature or the ability to select where you want the video to start?

BTW I have noticed no stuttering on my video, infact the quality is really amazing.

  83. Dieselboy Says:

I just figured out how to Fast Forward, it has to be when the video is not playing. However I have not had it work successfully yet. This would be the one thing I wish could be fixed next. Otherwise I am still extremely pleased.

  84. Dieselboy Says:

Lol, ok i read through all the posts and now I’ve got it. Sorry for being a noob.

  85. RuDe DuDe Says:

Dieselboy Don’t forget to donate !!

And keep playing, pimpstreamer has many more features…

  86. Dieselboy Says:

For anyone that has had trouble trying to skip forward and getting the error “stream failed” try uninstalling and reinstalling. I did this and it fixed the problem. Now I can skip to any part of a video without an error.

  88. oluv Says:

great! finally adding the whole folder to playlist works again. in the previous version i used it didn’t work. i also like the skipping to the next song, and leaving playlist with triangle. this was not possible with the previous version either, although now you cannot fast forward during playback, or maybe i am missing it.
i think one thing could be improved. when streaming music, there is always a gab between one song and another. especially disturbing when the songs ought to be played back gapless. maybe some prebuffering could be introduced to pimpstreamer, so that the next song in playlist is already preloaded before the previous one ends, and the gap could be minimized.
now sometimes the gap is up to 10 seconds long.

  89. Vaazra Says:

Can somebody please tell me how long does it take to start pimpstreamer.exe. Cause mine takes around 3 min. Guess its a problem with my system only. Having this trouble with v0.76 and 0.77 only.Previous versions all had an instant start of the application. Rest working all great.

  90. William Says:

To the ones that want to know how to set the priority to “the” highest, here is how:

First you Ctrl+Alt+Del (this will open the Task Manager), then you click the Processes tab and find “PimpStreamer.exe”.

Right click it and go to “Set Priority”. By default it should be set at “Normal”. So try and bump it up to see if the shuttering stops.

And also, when they say “highest”, I think they are talking about “Realtime” that you can choose from.

This should be placed in the FAQ.

  91. William Says:

Well, I can’t get mine to stop shuttering. Looks like I have to wait on that buffer update.

  92. DickyDick1969 Says:

@ vaazra.. Startup time is due to YouTube processing.. Just delete their RSS feeds.

@ william.. as the PSP has limited memory dont expect too much of the buffering. If you have heavy stuttering the buffer will always run dry. Try to tweak the settings (frame divider) or amp up your WIFI.

  93. Washy Says:

If I can get this going I’m willing to donate to the author

    nice work love it !!

    love to have .asx supported.

  95. William Says:

    @DickyDick1969

Changing the frame divider doesn’t help at all. The only thing it does is slow down the video, but that makes sound out of sync. Even if I do that, the shuttering is still there.

Also I tried moving my wireless router around and changing the channel to 1 (before it was on 11). Still shuttering like before.

I don’t know if this is a computer problem, but I’m going to try putting the server on a Vista computer that I have and see what happens.

  96. Brie987 Says:

IM going crazy trying to get this to work. I get the purple screen and the count down but stops at 03-4. Then nothing. I know everything is set properly my firmware is “3.10 OE-A” does this have something to do with it? I would love to donate if someone can help me get this running, it seems like a great program. Thanks for any reply.

  97. Honcho Says:

I have the same problem that many stated here already (as above)
I start the prog and I can choose my router then the countdown runs down and it always stops at 3 of 4. I use XP and WEP, internet works fine, tried WEP with 64 and 128 bit.

I get the same problem with pspftpd-v0.3.8 the ftp wifi server for psp. It uses the same countdown and it also gets stuck at 3 of 4.

Could you let us know what happens during step 3 of 4 of the countdown, it might help us with finding a solution to the problem.

  98. Washy Says:

People who are having problems, which Router/Gateway are you using?

I found out that my Router is too blame. I’m using DLink DIR-635 N Draft

With all the same settings I tried my old Dlink G draft router and it worked.

  99. Honcho Says:

I found out I could get pass the 3 of 4 problem by assigning a static IP to my psp. Now the only problem I have left is that I get an “Error connection to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” test failed.

My next step will be forwarding the 3333 port to the psp (?), or if that doesnt work to the IP of my workstation.

I am using Belkin Pre-N router.

  100. Washy Says:

Nothing worked on my router. My PSP has always had a static ip.

Port forwarding didn’t work on the router. Neither did DMZ enabled to my PSP.

  101. akira276 Says:

for getting the subtitles to work, what i did was:

if it is a .srt file, convert it to microdvd .sub
put it in the same folder as your movie with the same name
    e.g. movie.sub (no need for movie.avi.sub)
then, in the .ini for pimpstreamer, add to the extensionlist, “SUB” (without the “”)
and if all goes well, it shuld work
did for me so iono o.O

  102. Babykillah Says:

    WPA support would be awesome:D:D:D:D:DD:D:D:D:D

  103. TriXsteR Says:

thx alot akira276 that helped me

  104. TriXsteR Says:

i also have an idea add a buffer would make the stream alot smoother

  105. Brie987 Says:

Will this only play media from drive C? Can you play media from other drives ? I have an Acer (I know) and I have media on a drive D, will it read from this drive? Thanks for any reply.

  106. TriXsteR Says:

Brie987 all u have to do is point pimpstreamer to the drive or the folder within the drive

  107. Cerberus Says:

I’m having the 2 out of 4 problem. I have a static IP, WLAN switch is on, WLAN Power Save is off. I’m using 3.10 OE. Anyone have any ideas?

  108. killahkazx Says:

i also have the connections state 2 of 4 and then the psp freezes i have 3.10 oe im starting to think its the firmware

  109. Brie987 Says:

Thanks Trixter got it, I don’t know what I really did but I had to fool with my router, its funny because I created a port forwarding and it just didnt work so I removed the port for pimpstreamer so I could re-establish the port but I started pimpstreamer and it worked. When I check my port forwarding pimpstreamer is not listed. I noticed that in the .ini I put my router address (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx) not my actual computer (xxx.xxx.x.xx) and now it works. I’m just telling you what is on my actual “paper work” how its working is beyond me but I’m so glad to have fiddled with it (FOR 3 DAYS) Totally worth it.
One problem the RSS does not work. I tried drag and drop, does not take url, nothing, I tried even manually in .ini, it shows up as broken but it did show up not like the drag and drop. Please help me so I may send a greatful MOOLAH will send anyway but I would be so grateful. Please help with the RSS. Thanks for this App! Its double the use of my PSP.

  110. Brie987 Says:

PS- also in the .ini I left the port 3333 behind my router ip. In both .ini, PSP/game150 and Windowz/PSP/1.5. And I also have firm 3.10 OE-A. I hope this may help.

  111. Vanamonde Says:

I’m having audio sync issues. When I stream an AVI, at first everything works fine, then there is a stutter and the audio/video goes out of sync. No amount of pressing X+LEFT/RIGHT solves the sync problem (and I’m not trying to fast forward the video).

I have a PSP running 3.03 OE-C and pimpstreamer installed in the 150 folder on the memory stick.

  112. usf70 Says:

    Hello,
thanks a lot for this wonderfull homebrew … Made me use my PSP again after a long long time. The streaming is perfect and so is the image/sound. But I have a problem though : after 10 minutes of streaming or so, it justs freezes, and I have to reboot the PSP. No butons works anymore. There is no way for me to watch a whole film… Plase help !!
I am on 3.03OEC by the way, and using pimpstreamer 0.77

  113. akira276 Says:

@Vanamonde: same problem here, any1 hu’s got the adjusting of the audio to work, can you post how you did it?

@usf70: errr not sure how to help, mayb its your wlan power save option; is it off?

  114. usf70 Says:

@akira276 : Backlight Auto-Off is OFF, Auto Sleep is OFF and WLAN Power Save is also OFF … I really don’t understand … I tried reducing the framrate but no difference. Thanks for your help anyway ;-)

  115. Reela64 Says:

My WLAN light turns on for about a second and then turns off again and it freezes at 2 out of 4. Any help?

  116. Brie987 Says:

Hi both akira276 and usf70, is the media that you are streaming on the same drive as the pimp software, I have notice that sometimes my streaming would become out of sync when I am using a second drive. Pimp on one drive and media streaming from a second (external) drive. Just a curious note. I hope you get it fixed.

But I still cannot get my RSS to work the only one that works is the Pimpware video that came on the software, the YouTube does not work at all and the RSS feeds don’t even show up on my dir. list on the PSP. Can anyone help or any suggestions. Thanks again.

  117. warpdeagle Says:

@DickyDick1969, If you recall, I had gave an explanation on how to set up a conection over the internet. Also stated that it was very slow and choppy. You had asked what the connection test said. I finaly was able to get back to test it. Movie bitrate was set at 400, audio bitrate set at 64, and frame rate was set at original. The test results was 16384000 bytes send in 404 secs, avg = 40554 bytes/sec.

  118. usf70 Says:

@Brie987 : My pimpstreamer software is not on the same drive as the AVI files. Do you really think that’s the problem ?
I will try putting them on the same drive and we’ll see. It is so frustrating not getting this to work. It such an amazing program !!!

  119. Brie987 Says:

usf70, I hope it works. If not, lower your video bit a little at a time also try a variety of movies as some act differently. I have some that are very out of sync, I then lower the video bit down one increment at a time, I know it seems time consuming but when you are watching a movie that is 1.5 hours long its worth it. most of my movies work fine. I use 400 to 350 (Depends on media) video bit and my audio is at 96, sounds great with earphones. Good luck.
    RSS still not working though.

  120. Slv52errr Says:

i canot use it in windows vista(installed by windows xp, because vista canot install it)

    test is okay

but canot find the directory to see file

  121. Kastef Says:

I think the 2 of 4 crash problem is caused by draft N routers. Someone one stated that it was happening on his router the was draft N but worked on his G router. Why would this be?

I hope it is fixable because once you go N you can’t go back.

  122. sebastian Says:

hej er der nogle der ved noget om hvor man

  123. sebastian Says:

    ka downlode videos

  124. sebastian Says:

    english

  125. usf70 Says:

OK, so I have tried everything possible. I have put the AVI files one the same drive as Pimpstreamer, I have tried a lot of combinations for the video and audio bitrates and …. nothing
It’s still freezing at around 10 minutes of streaming. I have to say that till then, the quality is superb. So the only way for me now to wath a whole film is to stop it after 7 minutes or so and then restart it at more or less the same point I left it with the fast forward option….
If someone has an idea … I will be more than pleased !!!!

  126. usf70 Says:

I have also tried with version 0.76 of pimpware … same problems … I don’t know what else to try ….

  127. usf70 Says:

Is there a way to run it in debug mode ? Or to have a trace or systme logs ? It could be helpful

  129. Sambedi_Fahted Says:

Got 3.10oe a2. Keep getting “Current strean directory: “”Error connectino to host xx.xx.xx.xx:3333″. Pimpstreamer v 0.77 - client and server on the same lan -not trying to do this over the net just yet. Seems to be a pattern with the 3.10 firmware… Is anyone out there pimping properly With 3.10 firmware?

  130. warpdeagle Says:

@ Sambedi. I have 3.10 OE-A’ and that happend to me after my router reasigned ip addresses to my pcs. Check and make sure the ip address in the pimp.ini on the psp matches the ip for the pc you are trying to connect to.

  131. Sambedi_Fahted Says:

    @ warpdeagle
good to see someone with 3.10 OE-A’ is pimping. I actually use static IP addresses so I don’t have an IP mismatch and I’m able to point my browser to http://xx.xx.xx.xx:3333 and I see the -9, so I know my server’s working.

  132. DickyDick1969 Says:

Just got 3.10-oe-a on my new PSP.. PiMPStreaming perfectly.. (put it in GAME150)

Be sure to check if your firewall isn’t blocking the port
of that the server is listening to the correct port

  133. Sambedi_Fahted Says:

Interesting. This is all on my lan, so it’s not a firewall problem… and I do have both folders in GAME150.. I’ll try without WEP (not wpa) when I get home to see if that may be the issue. but like I said I can see the -9 when I open my browser to http://10.0.0.2:3333. Is there a way to debug?

  134. Engan Says:

I can’t get my subtitles to show. I have a psp with 3.03 OE-C, and the streaming works perfectly. I have the subtitle file in the same folder as the movie on the computer, just like it says it should be. I have made a folder “MOVIE”, on my psp (PSP/MOVIE).It still won’t show.

    Any idees anyone?

    // Engan

  135. Engan Says:

it should be “MOVIES” (PSP/MOVIES)…forgot the “s” on the end

  136. Fractalus Says:

Hi. I’m having a problem to stream some specific AVI file. I’m getting following screen on my PSP:
    Error:
    “pmp_file_open: video.rate

  137. Fractalus Says:

hmm. the forum has some problem with html escaping so I’m trying to repost my message again…

Hi. I’m having a problem to stream some specific AVI file. I’m getting following screen on my PSP:
    Error:
    “pmp_file_open: video.rate < video.scale”

    Press X

The AVI file is normaly running under WMP or MPC on Windows and has following properties:
    Video: DIVX 320×240 25.00fps 334Kbps
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 44100Hz mono 47Kbps

Other simmilar files are running well but some of them cannot be played due the same error.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Anyway thanks for such great piece of software. Keep up the cool work!

  138. Fractalus Says:

BTW I’m getting the error described above in all previous versions of Pimpstreamer. (Just trying to be more specific.)

  139. BeefCake Says:

    Hi,

I can’t get it installed on Vista either (I’m running Rtm Ultimate). Is there an alternative that will work? I tried using the app to decompress the msi file but the applications in it didn’t run either.

Can’t wait to get this going tho. Keep you the great work!

  140. BeefCake Says:

I got it working with Vista by installing it on an XP machine, then you simply copy the Program folder (normally c:\Program Files\PimpStreamer)
into the Pogram Files folder on your Vista box. The issue is the installer with Vista, so if you copy it over it should be all good.

apparently in vista you can run an app like it was on an older version of Windows so you could try that with XP, but I didn’t do this.

    Hope this helps everyone.

DickyDick1969, it might be worth having the Pimpstreamer folder and the psp folders as separate downloads, but I lover you app, it’s awesome!

  141. Sambedi_Fahted Says:

I had some more time to look at PiMPStreamer 0.77 not working with 3.10 OE A2. I noticed that my PSP’s browser can’t open http://10.0.0.2:3333 - But that could be a limitation of the browser and that would have nothing to do with the pimpstreamer app. I also used wireshark (used to be tethereal) to monitor packets coming from my PSP to the server - The PSP was only sending ARP packets to 10.0.0.2. I rebooted a few times and tried to connect without testing the connection and once or twice I saw a few port 3333 packets (no more than 5 or 6)… but that was about it- those times I was able to view my shared directories but never got down further than the initial folder layer. I have a feeling that this may be a firmware incompatibility. Is anyone successfully running with the 3.10 update 2 firmware?

  142. Fractalus Says:

Just found couple of issues in v0.77(Sorry if already known):

-subtitles timing doesn’t scale with framerate division settings so I had to regenerate the .SUB files with appropriate divided frame numbers.
-skipping the start of stream doesn’t work (after first flushing of buffer) when frame rate divisor is greater than one. (It looks like the stream position is wrongly computed in this case?)

IMO Those problems could be relatively easily solved. What do you think DickyDick1969?

  143. Chambers Says:

For all the people getting stuck at connection state 2 of 4. I had this same issue, all I did was set up another connction in the psp called test2, then i started pimpstreamer and it suddenly worked. So maybe something was corrupt with my first connection and setting up a second one “kicked” it. FYI I’m running 3.10 update 2 firmware

My issue now is that I run Vista and the server will not work in Vista. I tried on 32bit and 64bit, the server starts but when i go to localhost:3333 I get nothing, I tried this with firewall turned off. Anyone else have this issue?

  144. Chambers Says:

Beefcake, just read your reply, gonna give it a shot, thank you

  145. Sambedi_Fahted Says:

I have to second what Chambers said. My problem is that my wireless access point is flaky as hell. I was able to port forward 3333 to my pimp server’s ip address and mooch off of one of my neighbor’s unencrypted wifi to stream video. It stutters but I got much further than I got with my own access point. SOAB. Glad it’s not the firmware or your software, DickyDick. Great software!

  146. stylemo Says:

hi. your neat app works great on my 3.03 OE-c PSP. I was just wondering if it also works on non-infrastracture mode like ADHoc? Thanks DickyDick69. I hope you’ll answer my question soon.
