Wii love PiMPStreamer! (and PS3 too)
Wii? Miiii? Yeah! Now you can watch your favorite movies on your Wii, streaming from your PC! Just as easy it is for PSP users, now PiMPStreamer extends its use by being a fully HTTP browsable FLV video streamer… Just point your browser at it! You can even use it on a FLV capable pocket PC. Or PS3 !! (not tested)

How does it work for the Wii? Install PiMPStreamerSetup-0.80.msi at your PC. Run PiMPStreamer, and point the Opera browser on the Wii to the PC’s ip address at port 3333 (configurable). Select the video file and happy streaming!
For the PSP users: no new features this version…
Note: I tested it with a wireless Wii… And it is really BETA for the FLV streaming part so if you have bugs/questions please MAIL. (and donate) And also only with short clips, I dont know if the Wii is capable (memory wise) to stream long FLV’s ..
Update: Be sure to get the latest PiMPStreamerSetup-0.80.msi. I had to re-upload it.

I just tried this out with a Wii, worked GREAT! I also tried it with a PS3, worked nicely there also (although it would be cool if you could implement a video size option, since the PS3 browser supports a higher resolution than the Wii browser). Nice job!
March 10th, 2007 at 6:23 am
it even sort of works in the psp’s web browser! (no video, just directory searching)
Well this is pretty cool, but is it a possibility to get hacked or something?
March 10th, 2007 at 6:30 am
how did you do to make it work on a ps3? pleazz a lil help
March 10th, 2007 at 8:57 am
How does it work with Wii ??
Can you please tell me the steps ?
I don’t have experience in streaming at all.
Thanks.
March 10th, 2007 at 9:27 am
@ JoP .. what is the format the PS3 can handle (browser resolution)? I will build an option to set the FLV resolution..
March 10th, 2007 at 9:32 am
@Nikos
Install the installer.
Add media paths.
In windows XP goto Start->Run-> enter “cmd”.
In the black window enter “ipconfig”. You will see your IP address there.
If your IP address is for example 192.168.1.2.
Go to the Wii enter the IP address 192.168.1.2:3333 . (3333 is the port nr)
Select in the list your AVI,MPG etc whatever.. and happy streaming!
March 10th, 2007 at 10:57 am
Please implement a way to have it fullscreen, and play/pause/stop/etc
March 10th, 2007 at 10:58 am
cant you set the width to 100% rather than a pixel width?
PS3s supports 720p and 1080i/p

I have FW 1.32 for the PS3. I’m pretty sure everything is done right, but I’m getting page cannot be displayed when I Enable the plugin on the PS3. I get a purple background and the title bar says PiMPStream FLV but I can’t see any files or the logo or anything.

hey for those of you that may be having troubles:
1. check to make sure that if you’re using a router that you forward the port 3333(tcp/udp) with the name of pimpstreamer.
2. goto windows firewall and make an exception for pimpstreamer with port tcp 3333
3. type in 192.168.1.* * being the last digit and then :3333
yes the colon goes in there so it looks like 192.168.1.*:3333 (* being the last digits.)
4. send money to dickydick for all his great work and effort to make your video/music/picture viewing lives easier
5. enjoy portable content
THANKS MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

When I try to set this up on my Wii, the media path’s show up, as well as the folders, however when I try to access some of the folders they just show up as empty.. It doesn’t show any of the video’s at all.. And when I try to play an MP3 (which it does show), I click the mp3 and then the site just kicks me back to the main page..
Those anyone know how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

March 11th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
hey works great but i get a problem about 10 mins into the movie it freezes on all of my movie?? any help??
March 11th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
Moppel: Try http://localhost:3333 and see if that gets you anywhere.
Of course, that address won’t help if trying to view your stuff from another source.
March 11th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
nice stuff.
Moppel - as was mentioned in an earlier comment, check the port number in the .ini file. After I installed it was “56″ not “3333″.

Hi.
How do I control audio/video sync on my Wii?
March 11th, 2007 at 11:40 pm
On the wii its soo slow!! i got a lynksys 802.11G router and it takes like 2 mins to buffer, plays for like 2 min then stops and bufffers again? Do i gotta change the bit rate to anything special to make it go faster?
March 12th, 2007 at 12:21 am
GREAT!
But all my Vids crashes after a while! Some are running for ca 5 minutes, but then they crash down.
But i know, it’s a Beta Version and for the PSP. Would be great to see that programm only for the Wii. (controlling and performance)
March 12th, 2007 at 12:26 am
Hey, you know what would be a fantastic feature for an FLV streamer?
Yes, you guessed it. The ability to stream FLVs.
I have a bunch of FLV movies saved on my computer… why can’t they stream into the FLVstreamer, if all sorts of other video types can?
March 12th, 2007 at 12:31 am
Or I could just add it to the configuration file and hope it works…
March 12th, 2007 at 12:36 am
Yeah.. I tried to add FLV to the configuration file, and upon launching the FLV file from the Wii, the program on the host PC crashed. This is fun.

March 12th, 2007 at 3:03 am
How do you stream music? It doesn’t work for me…also, I can view my movies from my PSP and from my browser but the PS3 just gets an “about:blank” screen. Help?
March 13th, 2007 at 3:43 am
I installed PiMPStreamer, my .ini is set to port 3333, I know what my local ip address is, things stream fine from localhost:3333 –
– But things don’t show up on my Wii Opera. It doesn’t even attempt to load. Any idea why? I tested it out trying to stream to my laptop as well, and it just timed out.
March 13th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
Hello
I have the same problem as geez85. I used to have the same problem with versions 0.76 and 0.77. After 10 minutes or so, it freezes…
Any ideas ?
March 14th, 2007 at 1:55 am
Got to say, I love your work mate. This is the most used app on my PSP.
Have you or has anyone managed to get RM support working? I figure it’s not compiled into ffmpeg by default but it seems to be able to support it? Oh well i’ll keep experimenting but if anyone knows.. please share your info.
March 15th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
man…really good job. works really fine on wii. i dunno if there is any possibility of using it fullscreen. would be really great. thanks!
March 25th, 2007 at 1:28 am
I tried using this on my wii but when I get to the page it just sayz Hide Adz in the top left corner and nothing else on the screen. I can’t select anything but Hide Adz and when i click that the page is empty. The first time I got a list of my files but haven’t been able to get back to that point since.
I looked in the .ini file and the setting says 3333. What else could be happening here?
March 25th, 2007 at 1:36 am
Ok, I got it running. I was running my psp pimpstreamer at the same time, I guess there was a conflict, unless there’s a way to stream 2 at the same time? It works but I was expecting fullscreen, d’oh. Would have been cool to stream to my upstairs tv where I don’t have cable hooked up.

I tried it on my opera wii and it worked! but…
the layout is not very well suited for the wii, is it possible for me to change the html code that you use to render the page? If so I would love to make it more wii friendly…
You know with bigger buttons and all
October 13th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Tried it with my ps3 and it works, but the picture size needs sorting out.As its useless on my 37″ flatscreen.
Great work guys
/wishes someone would figure out a divx patch or sumat.
