Wii browser :-( and update..
Hmm.. the new Wii browser was released, but the flv running still isn’t right. (Friday the 13th perhaps?)
The FLV playback still stops after watching a minute or so. It perhaps needs more metadata? The wii browser is currently the only one suffering from it. Flash implementations on other systems (PS3/PC) can play the whole movie…
So I need to investigate
. Also if Wii users with an ethernet adapter can send feedback about PiMPStreaming on an ethernet Wii, it would be great!
PS. I also started an user mode pimpstreamer (for WPA support) from scratch for the PSP. Soon it will be released…

What is the maximum bit rate that Wii can handle?? If the 0×0 set the movie resolution as it was encoded is there a way to send the movie without any conversion (image resize, bit rate change)? What are the resolution and bitrate that you think work best with the wii?? Thanks

Anyone know why I can’t fastforward when watching stuff from Dattebayo (http://yhbt.mine.nu/t/). It will play but whenever I try to go forward, it just restarts from the beginning.

It would be cool if the PSP client could send FF & REW command to the server to allow it to step or backstep 10 sec in the stream or something like that. Because when you press the wrong button you have to watch the whole movie again!
WPA cool! I had to setup a WEP router on another nic to be able to safely stream stuff and avoid exposing my entire network thur WEP wireless…
Keep up the great work!

Great stuff Dicky, petje af!
Today I gave Orb 2.0 a try (orb.com), but that didn’t work at all on the PSP and performed poorly on the Wii. And the Orb generated Flash stream doesn’t last long either (i.e. it stops as well after a while).
One thing I noticed on the Wii: if I set the video bitrate higher, the Flash video will stop earlier. Seems to be related to the amount of (video/audio(?)) data received. Since both Orb and Pimp Streamer experience the same problem, I think the the Flash player in Opera for the Wii is at fault.

[…] UPDATE: The latest browser breaks some things like playing long flv video files. Developers are searching for workarounds. Check Pimpware.org and WiiCR.org for more info. Bookmark this site on your Wii for easy access to Wii Friendly websites: http://tinyurl.com/vcr8m 123 Auto Mover […]

It seems that the flash implementation on the Wii tries to buffer the entire video in memory while playing it (for seeking support). Since the Wii has limited memory, when it runs out, the video stops. This is why videos with lower bitrates play longer. The only real solution at the moment is to chunk up the video into pieces and play them seperately (I think this is what WiiCR does).

great job so far.
I’m having the same problem as all the other Wii users out there. Looking forward to see how this works out.
