PimpStreamer 1.0
Pimpstreamer 1.0, a new release!
update: To fix the “buffer overrun detected”, first uninstall the old version, then install the new one. (see comments)

* support for the new slim psp /3.xx firmwares/WPA
* better streaming (so is reported)
* fully graphical, fast scrolling, proportional fonts
* not based on pmp_mod anymore
* DNS lookups
* started from scratch
* better energy consumption (playing MP3)
Download PiMPStreamerSetup-1.0.msi

Remember this package installs also the old PMP_MOD based version, use that if you want to run on 1.50.

OoooOOooooohhh!
Nice, cant wait to try this release.
Good job.
October 19th, 2007 at 5:25 am
Just to let you know, 1.0 did not come with a config.txt, not really hard to make one, but since the beta came with it, i am not sure it was intended.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:21 am
Yea, luv it, i think the psp should buffer the bitrates little more using the internal ram/ duo if optinal…. if your not doing it already, would make it a lot smoother. are u beffering allready?
October 19th, 2007 at 7:25 am
and a back /DIR button would make navigation much more user friendly
, like the psp web browser “Left Bumper”
October 19th, 2007 at 7:35 am
Also his .msi is ment to install over the last beta,
If u have “vista” same thing applys !!!!dont!!! click the “yes. install psp binaries box.
After install go to the DIR and u will find a folder called “PSP”/3.X/PIMPSTREAMER100
October 19th, 2007 at 7:41 am
What is the optimized bitrate for video? My videos start of ok but begins skipping after that. its streams fine so thats not the problem
October 19th, 2007 at 8:49 am
How can i do this in Linux ????
October 19th, 2007 at 9:31 am
Great !
Could you please provide the releases as .zip (or whatever) as well ?
TIA

i got a psp lite with 3.71 -m33 but when i install it and try to execute it on my psp it says that it doesnt work =x
October 19th, 2007 at 11:14 am
You the best ! It’s very very good. Continue !
October 19th, 2007 at 11:20 am
Needs some help here.. Same problems as the beta…Playback stops and jumps repeatedly. And now the video just plays in a small distorted window with slanted bars running through it. I’ve tried several Movie bitrates, Audio bitrates, Framerates and PSP render sizes. I’ve stopped all non-essential processes on the server PC. Pimpstreamer runs at ~12% CPU. I have WEP enabled. Any ideas? Another annoying problem is the screen will occasionally go totally black. Hitting X gets the display back. PSP Slim running M33-2 totally shut down and restarted several times. Still no joy.
October 19th, 2007 at 11:21 am
nobody got the same problem as me with a psp lite ? it says it cant start pimpstreamer =x
October 19th, 2007 at 12:28 pm
The application is awesom, first time tbh i tried pimpstreamer and it’s GREAT!!
But… I have found a bug :\ When i stream a video and then i cross off the pimp streamer on the computer my psp crashes and just locks up unless i pull out battery (Not that this does anything bad but just a small bug)
Also when i try to watch some videos it doesnt STRETCH it to the proper size (still watchable (Set at 480×272). But it’s a square box in the middle with a bit of colour defect on the left side of the video.
Anyways great app and good luck in future. Cant wait for more updates

Great app, but the pause button should be welcome back. Streaming a .mpg is very laggy.
October 19th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
Please add support for subtitles. THx
October 19th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
Hmm scary version
First of all if i “share” more that 4 dirs it will NOT show up on the psp client MAX 4 dirs.
The sound hangs sometimes… what bitrates are prefered for movie and audio?
Some of the streaming movie are mirrored in the first 0,04 cm of my psp screen.

October 19th, 2007 at 11:08 pm
i always get an error when i start pimpstreamer on the psp ….it says
“stat failed on config.txt
00000002″
and
“could not read config.txt or no servers listed”
and then it shuts down
any solution???
October 20th, 2007 at 12:43 am
you need to create the config.txt file with your pc ip on it. locate it on the same folder of the eboot.pbp of pimpstreamer
October 20th, 2007 at 1:08 am
Is there any way to stream from TVU?
Or any other program that streams “live” tv?
October 20th, 2007 at 3:20 am
Great work! Nice GUI.
I’m getting worse streaming than with the old one.
My bitrate settings used to be 900/128 with smooth playback not as in this new version.
Keep it up!

Hi, i love your program! The best homebrew out there!!
But… Where are the PAUSE, INFO BAR and ASPECT RATIO change on this version???
I hope you will implement them soon in next version.
Thanks for all.

Hey! great program… very useful, if anyone is trying to play .divx files on the PSP, you just have to change the .divx to .avi and the program will recognize it. Thank you very much for this great program

I get this error every time i try to run the program on my computer. I am running Windows XP pro sp2
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: …m files\PiMPWare\PiMPStreamer]PimpStreamer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program’s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

help. I’m getting the message “no network configurations found” for some reason even though I can see my ip address clearly when I checked the config.txt file
October 21st, 2007 at 10:42 am
“pspSdkInetInit returns 8002013A” is all I get
October 21st, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Now had a chance to play with it a bit and must agree with some of the above comments.
Would be nice to have the info bar back. Also being able to skip times in lumps of minutes/5 mins/whatever as before.
Navigating folders: I liked being able to skip through lists eg. 10 rows at a time. Also when exiting a file, would be nice to start it again from where you left off.
Otherwise, liking the gui & performance.
October 21st, 2007 at 3:55 pm
Very great, full work, 3 problem detected.
2 are says before, dark bar side to the left.
no navigation possible.
And the last we are obliged to push a button for the brightness who stop (in 5min for me), the consumtion mode is not desactivated.
October 21st, 2007 at 5:19 pm
I too have got the BUFFER OVERFLOW DETECTED problem, making it impossible to stream.
I hope this problem is resolved soon.
And I believe it was caused by a Patch for XP via Windows Update Automatically.
Thanks!

I keep getting the message “There Is a Problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.” when i try to install it. I’ve deleted it and redownloading it and tried it again and again and still the same message. Anyone know what this could be and how to fix it. …Thnx

Tried the .91 and beta and now 1.0 looks great, bought a WiFi router just for this app. well worth it. Can’t wait for all the other features that people are requesting for.
One comment about the time forwarding function, can’t get this to work properly with movies, once you scroll to the preferred time and hit X it plays for about 2 seconds and then freezes.
Otherwise a great application.
PS. PSP Phat 3.71M33-2 if I remember correctly.

Hello,
Great job and very good release … I am still (only) running it under linux and no issues so far.
Just a little bit of stuttering on the audio, but it’s OK, hope you fix it soon…
Keep it up !!
October 22nd, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Hello,
I was really impressed by the speed of video playback start. Also I use WPA security which works fine! I’m focused on playback of VOB files as my DVD collection is now [DVD Shrinked and] stored on a couple of 750GB hard disks. I note that small VOBs like a “THX promo” don’t seem to start. I noticed that everything seems to play in 4:3 screen format on the PSP though I selected 480×272 on the server and video bitrate of 256 and audio bitrate of 64. The player seemed to say [Black Screen] “Shutting down…” after a few short playbacks, and quit back to the PSP menus. Video/Audio was out of synch but hey ho. Basically I loved it and look forwards to refined versions.
Thanks - where do I contribute?

Hi,
I keep getting “buffer over detected” when opening the “PimpStreamer.exe” in windows xp pro sp2. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:43 am
I thought changing my router to only B would fix the problem of the video only playing for a few seconds when using the time forward function, but it didn’t. Plus some of my files play wide screen and some play very small, is there a way to fix this?

Thank you very much for this awesome PiMPStreamer! Best APP!
One problem though, when I start a video in its middle (with the clock) it shows some frames and then gets stuck, is it just me or a known problem?
anyway, thanks for the great job!

The “Buffer Overflow Detected” error is caused by multiple installs of the pimpstreamer server. I did an “Add Remove Programs” and found 2 instances. Once I removed them and reinstalled the error went away.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:35 am
Wasn’t the case for me, I was using PiMPStreamer and one day I loaded it and it got the Error.
1 Install.
I uninstalled and reinstalled - no luck.
I uninstalled then went to ‘Program Files’ and Deleted ‘PiMPWare’ - which still had stuff inside - and then I installed and it works now ^__^
Best - Homebrew - Ever.
Thanks again.

Hi,
To solve “buffer overflowed error”. Just delete the “PiMPStreamer.ini” file in the installed directory.
One question:
How do I drop the RSS/XML urls in the box? I tried putting this “http://youtube.com/rss/global/top_viewed_week.rss” into an xml file and dropping it in the box but it didn’t work. Any help would be appreciated. THanks.

For those that inquired about Streaming TVU - Check this site http://pspupdates.qj.net/Streaming-TV-Onto-the-PSP-Using-TVU-Player/pg/49/aid/65422
or just go to pspupdates.qj.net and search for TVU
Pimpstreamer is great … just wish there was a way to buffer so it will play seemlessly .. outside of local network
November 8th, 2007 at 9:08 pm
anyone solved the fullscreen problem yet or knows how to remove the bar on the left side of the screen???
November 11th, 2007 at 4:14 am
I like very much this project!!
At first I was a little afraid to run Installer to send binaries to psp, why don’t you include the folder to copy and each user do it himself?
Why I have intalled 2 icons?
1st Violet that works
2nd Green, that do not work, can I delete it?
Which is the best way to set framerate and size to an average movie size?
Keep going!
Regards,
November 12th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Macdo, sounds like you’re using the version of Pimpstreamer for the 1.50 PSP firmware install, so the non-working icon is necessary, just ignore it. And I would guess that the reason that Dickydick1969 requires us to connect our PSP’s during the install process is so that the IP address of the server gets properly installed on the PSP without us needing to know how to edit the config files manually.
Were I you, I would stick with the default size (it fits the PSP screen really well) and framerate. If you have frames dropping or sound skipping then perhaps you could reduce the BIT rate, I certainly wouldn’t set it any higher than 700 kbps anyway. I got really good results with my Linksys wireless router using the default settings on a variety of media.
November 16th, 2007 at 5:29 am
It doesn’t work for me i’m on a cfw 3.52 m33-4 . It sayspspsdkinet returns 8002013a
What is this? i’m guessing it has to do with sdk?
November 19th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
It’s nice to have some graphics on the UI, but I think until you get the other functionality back from the previous version it’s best to stick with those. What happened to the on screen display, pause button, the aspect button? It’s great to see the updates, and I will gladly update when those features return.

…been using pimpstreamer .9x on my fat psp and its almost perfect! 90% only missing is buffering!
sold my fat and then bought a psp slim! now tried v1.0 and im really lost…
all of the features has been gone. i know its 1.0 hope that it will be updated soon. but for now can anyone give me the correct settings to convert a movie/tv series in the right format???
i mean ex. bitrate=768kbps, aspect/resolution=480×272, format=mp4 etc….
coz i have been trying different conversion settings and i cant watch without a hitch/glitch! really need someones help here.
finally hope to see the buffering feature if its possible on the next release like what the PSPTUBE is doin…
tnx! more power! i really love this app!!!!!

December 3rd, 2007 at 7:32 am
Hello… i’m a big fan of this application. Very well done!
I’ve been using this since you started this project….Your latest version is a HUGE improvement.
However… (sorry) I cannot get this to work on my PSP Slim.
I’m not certain what is going on, but I cannot display anything in the share list after it starts up. - I connect fine to my wireless and I’m using the exact same memory card between the Phat and Slim, and my network connection, is of course the same setup for both. (Also both are FW3.71M33-3). Works flawlessly on my Phat but no joy on the Slim.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Still no update? Already said enough about the streaming. Interface looks fine, but functionally; not really. The 2.01 version still works perfectly for me. Still using WEP, since somehow it runs best (at a little cost of security). Serious, I missed an option in the F.A.Q.: How to change the contrast on the older versions. I know it was written somewhere in the txt files before, just can’t find the buttons. Anyone?

Having problem to get get it working on 3.71-3 M33.
- If i start the app it will only show a empty box namend “current path” and no files
- If i try it from the PSP browser it will only load the ads on the page, the rest is empty
- If i rty from a PC browser it works just fine and i can watch movies.
Anyone got any hints for me?

December 7th, 2007 at 11:10 pm
even within 5 meters of your accesspoint/router?
- make sure you’re not downloading/uploading on the server pc
- check your accesspoint for settings in bridge, turn it off
- turn auto mode on for 802.11b/g selection (if possible. 802.11b only if you have a LOT of interference from other wireless points, like above 10)
- don’t forget to put your cpu speed at 133 Mhz or above
- virusscanner running its scan is a killer. End the process and finish it later
- even turn skype off… somehow it’s getting priority
- CTRL-ALT-DEL, processes, give high or realtime to pimpstreamer (it won’t affect the rest of the pc much at high)
- Use WEP encryption for the older Pimpstreamer. I’m still running the 2.01 because of the SUBS (and the .90 version/WPA gives the same problem you descibe)
At a distance of 10-15 meters I’m running at 800 kbps/192 kbps with a little stuttering sometimes. That’s my max.
Runs perfect at 600/160 kbps

Any idea how to stream TV using Pimpstreamer 1.0? I can stream movies from my HDD but I want to stream TV from my TV tuner card. BTW great app
January 15th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Dark Alex in the readme, says that Pimpstreamer 0.90 runs in 3.80 M33.
They’re great news.
January 15th, 2008 at 7:17 am
yup! confirmed and working!!!! wooootttt!! sweet! pimpstreamer 0.91 is working fine here!! hey dicky!!! please include a psp tv-out to pimpstreamer 0.90-91??? i gave up on pimpstreamer 1.0 and changed to PMPlayer what i love about this app is i can connect it to my tv and still streaming!!! the downside is i have to convert my movies in to .pmp
anyways…. 3.80m33 is a good news for pimpstreamer cause we can use the old and stable one…
January 15th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
0.91 Woooootttt! Woooooot!
Upgraded to the 3.80 M33-2 (no need for the latest update with the 1.5 kernel, which just came out).
0.91 runs perfect now. I also use WPA now, which still was an issue with the 2.01 Pimpstreamer.
It seems Darl-Alex and Dicky work a bit together indeed
Specifically because Dark Alex names the program in his updates…
And that is definately not bad at all!
All good comes for those who wait… It’s true!
January 18th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
I still cant get it to work.
Using 3.80 M33-4 and 1.50 addon.
Same as 3.71 for me…I can connect to my PC and browse my drives. But if I play an Xvid or Mp3 it says loading and I just get a blank black screen.
The blue bar starts on my PC…but no bar on the PSP section
January 19th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
anybody….?
January 21st, 2008 at 7:57 pm
1.50 addon not needed for the 0.91 version
Using WPA.
Usefull things I’ve been using, solving and trying the past year:
- Did you de-install the old versions ànd delete the map in the (probably) program files? Than re-install.
- Try configuring router and firewall. Local firewall should allow/give (just to make it easy) all access to the IP from your PSP (normally you keep the same IP on the PSP if you use DCHP)
- Router should allow port 3333 from the IP of your PC and PSP
- If you try to stream, what’s the bitrate? Put it as low as possible; e.g. 300/64.
I check the site daily (almost…) for an update of version 1.0, so I’ll be reading if it worked.
January 21st, 2008 at 7:58 pm
BtW. No bar on the PSP section… buffering problem maybe. last option I noted might work.
Dicky? Any Idea?
January 24th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I have v1.0 installed on my 3.80 m33 -5. When I boot up pimpstreamer everything loads fine, I select the video and it starts to play. But after a 10 to 15 seconds it freezes and my psp just shuts off. What’s going on, and how can I fix this?
January 24th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I tried it to, same prob. It has something to do with the programming.
As you might have noticed with my previous posts I test the program a lot; I just love it!
As posted before, I used the 0.91 version, because I’m able to use the WPA encryption. After a few days (and nights
) of testing, I noticed that there still was some stuttering using 800/192 kbps.
So I decided to install the 3.80 m33 -5 WITH the 1.50 add-on and go back to the WEP encryption. Problem stayed using the 0.91 version, but using the 2.01 version; Voilá, problem solved!
Okay, not the best encryption, but still, again running on 800/192 and even able to go a little further from my router!
In my opinion, the 2.01 version is still the most stable, less resources using version, specifically after using, testing and enjoying PimpStreamer for a very long time now (almost as long as DickyDick is working on it)

SysError..
Thanks for the reply.
That was the first time I had tried it, since a format, so the install was brand new.
I disabled my XP firewall and Router firewall, so took them out of the system really.
I have a fixed IP for my PSP.
I have portforward on my router, pc and psp all set at 3333.
I think the most annoying part is that I can see my files, click on them, but then it never works.
And what can I do about buffering ? Not much I think.

NoJoy, I’m out of ideas, while I thought I had all the errors simulated I could have
You have almost the same config as I have now, I only can think of a few things left:
- You’re using a PSP slim, some config might work different…
- CPU speed is below 133 Mhz (not likely)
- Still using some encryption on the wireless? Disable that to for a while…
- Close and start the Pimpserver
- Use a XPcodec pack on the PC (www.divx-digest.com), you never know
- Don’t forget to turn the 1.5 firware function on in the recovery menu…
I hope you’re wanting to watch standard mpeg, divx files? Do you have the same problem streaming MP3? Does the 1.0 version work? It is a little bit more compatible, but just not stable enough.
I hope dickydick reads these posts, they’re not in the forum…

SysError
I did write a post in the forum, it has 116 reads but no replys.
Strangely I did get it working with no encryption once, the annoying bit is, I was having a 2 way conversation with my wife and someone on the phone at the time.
So I dont know what I did. On that note however, Ive since disabled all security for wifi, and tried 0.91 and 2.01…1.00 and its not working again.
The only thing I did was enable the M33 option in the recovery console, I never changed it back, but it stopped working again.
Not using a Slim
Speeds at default
Tried WEP and No Encryption
Tried opening and closing server a few times
I will try a codec pack
And Ive tried 1.50 and 3.80 versions….
And yes I have the same problem with MP3
How annoying is that
January 26th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Keep getting
“get_packet_stream failed” as well….
January 27th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
get_packet_stream_failed…
mmm… do you have an option in your wireless router which gives more priority to Multimedia?
Does your ‘normal’ connection on the psp work; using the webbrowser, using RSS?
Since you have no encryption, no firewall on, port forwarded, you do see the files, but get that error… It looks a bit like the psp gets not enough streamdata, or you use a filetype which is somehow not supported by the Pimpserver…
I got that once with VOB files, but after installing a codec pack, that was solved. (codec pack -> dxshow support…)
I cannot conclude anything else. I didn’t register at the forum, so maybe you could copy/paste our conversation?
January 28th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Hi
Thanks for the reply..
I cant see any option in my router….for MM
Yes my normal connection works fine, RSS, Web and the new Radio option.
Yeah I cant see where the problem is either, the only thing has to be my router, as I did get it to work without encryption once. But once you have it port forwarded, what more can I do.
I formatted the memory stick, enable the 1.50 kernel, use 2.01, and I can see my Mp3s, Avis…you name it, but when I click on them, I either get the stream data error, or a blank screen.
For that to work I did change the driver in the config option to M33 No Umd…so I thought that cured it. But its back to the not working side of things again.
Bloody frustrating, thats why I gave up with this app a while ago, its a shame it seems to be dead in the water. It would be nice if it was updated more often, rather than a firmmware getting lucky and making it work ” for some”.
January 29th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
*sigh* Thru, thru. although the work on Pimpstreamer has been great, there hasn’t been a new post for allmost a month now. I truly hope there will be an update on the 1.0 version. In my opinion it’s still beta and not an 1.0 version…
Let’s keep our hopes up and hope there will be an update. Me myself will check regularly on the site, in the meantime, it looks like you have to convert the files and use it on a 4 GB memorystick, like I used to do

Set your bitrate to 256 and your audio to 64 or 128 , this will give you your best stream rate….. CHEERS…. Streaming The Hulk with very little pause
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:26 pm
COME BACK TO THE STREAMER DICKY!!!! WE NEED AND LOVE YOU!!!! lol but seriously an update would be friggin sweet. hope you see how much we love ur app and you decide to update it ^(’_')^ (kirby loves you too)
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:34 pm
quality app been using for a couple of years now. version 1.00 looks amazing but it’s just like the vista problem who really wants to update for a prettier gui when you lose so much functionality. dicky if your reading this please don’t think i.m being rude cos i don’t mean to be and you have made 1.00 look better than any of us could have hoped for but with that being said you made the previous versions function better than we even thought the psp was capable of. just a little update would be great.

Still don’t understand the whole config.txt business.
As far as I’ve understood, I’m supposed to make a .txt file containing my computers IP, for example: 192.168.0.15:3333.
Is that all? or should anything else be added?
September 16th, 2008 at 3:42 am
every wmv i play locks up my psp at the very end of video. about 5% before the end. no other format ive played does this. running 3.90 M33-2 with PimpStreamer 1.0, no firewalls or encryption or anything like that.
October 18th, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Nice best Programm 4 ever with cfw
February 13th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Don’t even worry about “config.txt”
You guys just need to install “pspinstall.exe”
inside the folder where you installed the pimpstreamer, guys.
August 3rd, 2009 at 3:24 am
first of all i love this program!!!!
BUT i have a few requests
requests :

Guys, i just don’t get it.. since 2008 there’s no update and i’m having a lot of trouble with it.. mp3 streaming it’s horrible even setting the quality to 32 or 256 streams the same way… it kinda pauses and retrieve all the time it’s not my router and it’s not my pc i was so glad about this program but i think the author just forgot it… btw i’m using a IBM Thinkcentre 8188 p4 2.66, 2gb of ram, geforce 6200, windows 7 final 32bits it’s a dedicated home server for sharing stuff wirelessly.. well i thank you for making this app but if i can’t use i think i’m going to unistall it..

Problems with stuttering are caused by poor wifi signal. Try this because it does actually work, http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html.
I am using an old single core AMD 2600+, 1GB RAM, Windoze 7 32bit (7600), wireless b/g and one of those windsurfer things. On the 1.50 kernel I can run the bitrates at 600/96 and it all works fine until my PC gets bogged down by other apps. Providing she behaves herself everything runs fine.
On 5.00-6 M33 Pimpstreamer still works according to plan but it has a terrible mirror effect of the left edge of the screen which makes the content unwatchable.
All in all, I make this application a must for PSP1000’s and is the second best app for the psp. IRShell takes first place because…. just try it and you will see why for yourself.

Tested Version 1.0 on Slackware Linux and it works great! I am running Slackware 12.2 Kernel 2.6.27.7-smp, KDE version 3.5.10 and Wine version 1.1.36. Installed under wine using the command ‘wine msiexec /i insertfilename.msi’ (Obviously you run this command without the quotes and change the insertfilename.msi to the actual file name). My wine is configured to run under windoze 7 mode. Have not tested to see if this is required.
Install could not find my PSP, so I just rebooted into Windoze XP and installed the program on my psp from there.
Once back in Linux I loaded pimpstreamer. (Wine should have created a link in your KDEmenu –> Wine –> Programs –> PIMPStreamer –> PIMPStreamer if not launch it from the konsole. You will need to navigate to where it was installed ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/PiMPWare/PIMPStreamer/ then type wine PimpStreamer.exe).
**** MAKE SURE YOU LOAD PIMPSTREAMER ON YOUR COMPUTER FIRST OR YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING THE PORT IS ALREADY IN USE BECAUSE YOUR PSP WILL BE HOGGING THE PORT *****
Once the system is loaded you can then navigate to wherever your files are you want to stream and add it to the program (same as you do in windoze). In my case, after I added the files I had to kill pimpstreamer and reload it again for the PSP to see the files. So if you connect your psp and notice your shared folders are not there, just close down pimpstreamer on both the psp and the computer and restart the server. After that, everything should work fine.
I am also getting the weird mirror effect on the left side like everyone else is reporting. Streaming quality is great otherwise. Absolutely love it!
PimpStreamer was also able to pull files off my externally mounted drives and recognize them. I have not yet tried with drives mounted as sshfs or samba, but I assume it will not cause any problems. If anything it may give issues with streaming speeds as it has to pull off networked drives. But as I said, I did not test that.
